Spiritual Warfare and Faith

Won or lost in the quality — not the quantity — of your faith

Spiritual warfare is won or lost in what you believe.

Belief = faith. In Scripture they are the same word. The fight is decided not by how much faith you can muster, but by its quality: genuine, undivided trust resting on the true God and His word.John 8:32

1Faith: Quality, Not Quantity

  • The mustard seed settles it — the smallest real faith is enough; the power is not in the size.Matt. 17:20 · Luke 17:5-6
  • “Little faith” = divided, not small — wavering, double-minded trust.Matt. 14:31 · Mark 9:24
  • “Great faith” = takes God at His word — it’s the character and the object of faith.Matt. 8:8-13
  • “Measure of faith” = a gift God apportions — raised to humble us, not to rank us.Rom. 12:3 · Eph. 4:7

2What We Believe In

The authority of Jesus

  • Won through obedience, exalted with the name above every name.Phil. 2:8-11
  • By the cross He disarmed the powers of darkness.Col. 2:15
  • He restored the dominion meant from the beginning.Gen. 1:26-28 · Eph. 1:20-22
  • Salvation and authority in no other name.Acts 4:12

Our authority in Him

  • Greater is the One in us than the one in the world.1 John 4:4
  • Authority over the full force of the enemy.Luke 10:19
  • Commissioned — by name — to cast out demons.Mark 16:17 · Matt. 10:8
  • All authority is His; therefore we go, and He is with us.Matt. 28:18-20

3Won or Lost in What You Believe

A lie believed is ground surrendered. Beliefs become footholds.

  • Jesus fought Satan with Truth — answering every lie, “It is written,” and the devil fled.Matt. 4:1-11 · James 4:7
  • So renew your mind; the truth sets you free.Rom. 12:2 · John 8:31-32 · 2 Cor. 10:3-5

Your feelings are an indicator of your belief system

  • What you feel reveals what you believe — the heart is the wellspring.Prov. 4:23 · Luke 6:45
  • Feel it → name it → trace it → replace it: “When I feel that, what does it feel like is true about me, about God?” Then answer with truth.Ps. 42:5
  • What you believe, you perceive — a lie becomes the lens. Same giants: Caleb saw victory; the ten “seemed like grasshoppers.”Titus 1:15 · Num. 13:30, 33
  • What you believe, you receive — blessing or curse. Agree with truth, come under the blessing; agree with the lie, open the door to the curse.Deut. 30:19 · Num. 14:28 · Heb. 4:2 · Prov. 18:21
  • The hope: Christ redeemed us from the curse — come out of agreement with the lie and back under the blessing.Gal. 3:13-14

My Response

  • Ask the Holy Spirit to search my heart.Ps. 139:23-24
  • Name one lie I’ve believed; answer it with the truth (“It is written…”).
  • Forgive, and renounce any agreement that opened a door.

“…you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” — John 8:32
